Pennsylvanians Are
Bloomin' Crazy Its that time of year, when the birds are chirping, the
April showers have gone and the May flowers are in full bloom. Daffodils to Dandelions,
and everything in between are blossoming and beckoning all to come and admire.
There
are plenty of places to see these fragrant flowers, and not just in their natural
settings. It seems that Pennsylvanians have such a love for flowers, that they have turned
it into a passion. From gardens to flower shows to plant sales, you need not go far to
find something in bloom.
Perhaps
the most popular garden in the state is Longwood Gardens, located in Kennett Square,
Chester County. Longwood Gardens was created by industrialist Pierre S. du Pont and offers
1,050 acres of gardens, woodlands, and meadows; 20 outdoor gardens; 20 indoor gardens
within 4 acres of heated greenhouses; 11,000 different types of plants; spectacular
fountains, flower shows, gardening demonstrations, courses, and childrens programs
to concerts, organ recitals, musical theatre, and fireworks displays. Longwood Gardens is
open every day of the year and attracts more than 900,000 visitors annually.
For
a relaxing day in the sun, why not check out some of the beauties that PA has to offer.
C'mon, take some time to smell the roses
or lilacs.
