| Gettysburg, PA! As you already
know, Gettysburg is rich with history. So rather than try to tell a story about this
town, I decided to let you know about a special event taking place there in July - - -The 135th
Anniversary at Gettysburg.
An
exciting reenactment of the Civil War battle of Gettysburg will take place July 1st
through July 5th, 1998. This historic reenactment will help commemorate the one
hundred and thirty fifth anniversary of the famous battle.
Wednesday
will highlight the Cavalry battle between Generals Custer and Stewart. Reenactments will
be held at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Fridays
activities will feature Mortar Demonstration at 10 a.m., along with a Mounted Artillery
Demonstration at 1 p.m. At 4 p.m. First Contact: Heths Advance, Bufords Stand
and Iron Brigade will round out the days activities.
Saturday,
July 4th starts with Hoods Advance at 10 a.m. There will be a Cavalry
Battle at 1 p.m. At 2 oclock, The Valley of Death, followed by Action at Culps
Hill at 4 p.m.
Sunday,
July 5th has Stuarts Grand Review at 9:30 a.m. The Cavalry Battle of
Fairfield will be held at noon. Picketts infamous charge will be featured at 1:30
p.m.
During,
before and after all these reenactments, many other things will be happening in
Gettysburg. There is always more than enough to see and do in Gettysburg, this special 135th
reenactment is just one more reason you and your family would decide to visit the historic
battlefield town.
