Why are there no campgrounds listed on this area?

I am looking for a campground in the Erie area...
Does anyone know of a nice one?

I saw Virginias Beach on here, how was it?

Looking to go up this fall and do some steel head fishing!
Any information would be appreciated

Virginias campground is nice but dring Steelie season you may not want to be in such an open area to the lake. Wind really whips off that place . Try one of the inland camp grouds.....

The wife wants to goto Erie this coming weekend and camp on the shore. What is are the options? Looking into Virginia's now, anything else on the shore? Open to nearby NY and OH options as well. Looking at "Lakeside" on the NY border...

Please advise! Thanks!

I heard Virginias Beach is full...

You can try the Campground on the right going out onto Presque Isle...

It is called... Sarahs Campground http://sarascampground.com/

I dont believe they take reservations and is a first come fist serve situation...

If you go their and luck out, another one of our members, WashPA Randy will be staying in Erie at... Hills Family Campground http://www.hillsfamilycampground.com/

Also - There is another campground right in Lampe Marina... http://www.porterie.org/lampe_marina_camp.php

The marina campground is a really neat idea... It is right in the marina area and was an old parking lot that was never used so they converted it to a water front campground...

This is also where the charters put out, so it is a very cool place to be... Check out Captain Pete Alex from Vision Quest charters while you are up there, he does a great walleye trip thumbs

Check out www.dreamsteelie.com and do some fishing While you are there !

Have fun... If you end up making it to Hills Family Campgrounds, look up Washpa Randy... He has the CampingPA stickers on his expedition and camper... campfire

Have always wanted to try the campground at the entrance to Presque Isle, but have a friend that is an Erie native who tells me that its quite the all-night party haven on the weekends. As we have small children, we are hesitant to try it.

A complication that i did not mention previously is that we have a dog. Am being told that Virginia's Beach and several other campgrounds up there do not allow pets....

No... Virginas beach does allow pets... We had ours there last year...

Check out their websites, and or call them, never go by word of mouth...

Always double check with the campgrounds themselves if it is not on their website... Or on here... thumbs

Can't say enough about Virginia's Beach. Posted in another forum about the great time we had there.

We rented one of their cabins for about 5 days, the cabin was clean in well maintained.

Va's beach was number 1 choice. Called them earlier today and they were certainly booked, had one tent site available.

Looking into the marina next.

Anyone familiar with Lakeside over on the NY border?

As Ranger posted earlier, we are staying at Hill's Family Campground this weekend. When I spoke with them on Friday, they still had several full hookup sites available. They don't appear to have as many ammenities as some other campgrounds, but we are using it for a base camp. Will be spending most of our time at Presque Isle State Park and really only be there to sleep. Looks like it is only about 6 or 7 miles from the park entrance.

Also, they do allow pets. We will have our pooch with us this weekend.

We drive a white Ford Expedition with an OBX sticker and a *cough* campingpa.com sticker on the back. If you see us in the park, stop and say, "hi".

The Lampe Marina Campground intrigued me location wise. Doesn't look like much for shade & such, but like the idea of being next to the PI bay inlet.

Thinking its going to be a tad bit windy.... Better tie the awning down good.

Anyway, i called them up and they were booked full, but had just received a cancellation, so i booked it.

All the satellite photos (google, yahoo maps, etc.) that i can find still show the campground as a vacant lot. Am wondering how long its been there?

We also are looking for a base camp for presque isle bay, think this will be an interesting one. Will try to check out Hill's CG while we are up there, will look for your rig if we get over there.

From web research, decent campgrounds up there seem to be slim pickin's.

Reading reviews on all the Erie campgrounds on rvparkreviews.com, there seemed to be alot of negative reviews all around involving alot of drama.

Looking forward to the trip...

We love the 21C. We selected one that also has a set of bunk beds, so when the kids take friends, there is a bed for everyone without having to break down table. We looked really long and hard at the 23B because of the slide out sofa, but opted for this one. Bought it new in August, 2002, and haven't looked back since.

Lampe Marina campground ROCKS! This place is 3 yrs old, clean, paved, full hookups, and right on the pier at presque isle inlet.
