Ok, ok... now that I'm drooling... You've all posted the ingredients, now how about the recipe? I have a cast iron maker, but I'm not sure I'm doing it right cause they're always kinda blah... Slice of bread, apple filling, some sugar and cinnamon, another slice of bread, and into the fire it goes...

What am I missing?

Only thing it looks like you're missing is buttering the outside of the bread. At least that is what I do.

Other then that it looks like you got it right.

Definitely buttering the outside of the bread is the key. It's just like making a grilled cheese sandwich except you use all kinds of other stuff on the inside. Give that a try.

I stumbled on a few new recipes that I'm going to try at our next outing....

The Mountain Pierogie: Mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese and sauteed onions.

Buffalo Pie: Chopped precooked chicken, Frank's Redhot and pepper jack cheese. Dip in either ranch or bleu cheese dressing.

Lasagna Pie: precooked ground beef, ricotta cheese, provolone cheese, spaghetti sauce. (I would probable put garlic butter on the outside)

That chicken, bacon, and cheese one sounds really good. Just found recipes for tacos and tuna melts to try too. I can't wait to try these.

we love pizza, and fruit ones; we've been considering an all mt pie weekend too! tired of all the cleaning up from traditional cooking! i found a lot of recipes online... of course my mind is blank right now... i'm looking forward to trying breakfast sandwiches though... hate cleaning out that egg pan!
