Pa. man bitten by snake after trip in woods

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- A western Pennsylvania man is hospitalized after being bitten by a snake during an ATV riding trip with his friends.

Authorities say 39-year-old Chad Heasley had gone into a heavily wooded area to ride ATVs early Thursday when his vehicle got stuck in the mud. Police say Heasley was bitten by a snake when he went to get some rocks to help elevate his tires.

Emergency personnel couldn't immediately find Heasley because of his location in the woods. But a Medivac pilot eventually led crews to Heasley and he was transported by helicopter to a hospital. His condition wasn't immediately known.
