From the messages I am seeing on Facebook the Jonestown Campground is no longer a KOA, and there are reports of it no longer having cable or internet.

We saw some definite signs that things weren't going well there on our last two visits.

Anyone else been there recently?

Last I heard, the new owners were making improvements. Doesn't sound like improvements to me.

Old post, but I'll update it anyway.
The old Jonestown KOA is now just Jonestown Campground.
The old Lickdale Campground, is now Jonestown KOA/Lickdale Campground.
The worst part, when you get off 81, the blue and white traffic sign says Jonestown KOA, 5 miles and points to the right.
In the background of that sign, you can see the huge KOA sign at the new Jonestown KOA/Lickdale.
And to make matters worse, if you would make that left and travel about 5 miles, you will find Pine Grove KOA/Twin grove.

LOL, this cracks me up....I used to live right down the road a piece from that sign.. havent been out that way in about 5 years but i can picture it in my mind...

I can remember when that campground at the crossroads in lickdale was under about ten feet of water....just a few years ago. there didnt used to be anything out there, now there is a wendys, a diary queen, a hess station and exxon....but used to be the middle of nowhere when i was a young woman

I suspect there will be a lot of frustrated people with these changes. With the way they made this happen it would be very very easy to think you are making a reservation at the old Jonestown KOA, and actually be making it at the 'new' Jonestown KOA (formerly Lickdale), in my opinion the 'new' KOA is much tighter sites, and not somewhere that we would book (we have toured it)

And finding contact info for the 'old' Jonestown is not easy.

"Old" Jonestown campground isn't fancy, but it was typically our first of the year, last of the year camping sight. Easy to get in and out of, basic amenities, and the sites are laid out nicely. Staffing and maintenance has definitely been an issue though. This year I have not yet made any reservations there, I am sure I am not the only one.

That's interesting. If I remember right, the current owner just bought that a year or 2 ago. But without much advertising and very hard to find we listings, I guess that's what happens.

Looks like Jonestown KOA, then Jonestown Family Campground is now Jonestown AOK

But if you prefer to make your reservations ahead, you seem to be out of luck. I have left two messages since last Friday, and have not gotten a return call.

They do have a new website:

And the entrance sign is yellow and black. This should surely confuse people with the current Jonestown KOA.

I have to think on this. The rates say "call for daily rates". And if my wife finds out where this is, she would say "since we are right there, we might as well go to Twin Grove." No argument here. Please post a review if you get there. thanx.

Twin Grove is definitely a nicer campground. We liked Jonestown because we were usually able to get in for last minute trips, even holidays, when Twin Grove is already sold out. It is also good for those early fall/ late spring trips when there isn't as much going on at Twin Grove.

We are back.

Jonestown AOK is open and under totally new ownership and management. The new owner also is an adjacent farmer so appears to have a real interest in the campground and the community.

From what we were told the previous owner did some serious damage to the campground on their way out. The pool has been damaged and all of the cable lines were cut at each site? Not to mention the maintenance items that were not being handled.

The current owners are actively make improvements. The contractors were staying onsite and making improvements each afternoon we were there.

Here is some pictures of work in progress that appears to include new water, sewer and electrical to each site, and stone was also on site for leveling when done:

Here is a picture of our site (just before we hooked up to leave today)

And some of the other sites

The owner we spoke with was nice, and was very visible in the campground. The amenities at this time other then the basic water, sewer and electric, are pretty much non existent. But the price was very reasonable ( under $100 for 3 nights) and for a family that has been cooped up for too long due to medical issues and job lay off, our weekend was just what the Dr ordered.

Under $100 for 3 nights? I don't care what other amenities you have, you can't go wrong with that. We just paid almost $200 for 3 nights. Saturday was full of activities, and the Chinese auction was nice on Sunday, but that's even more $. Thanx for the trip report.

Yup - I just confirmed with my husband - it was $84! And the kids inquired about mini golf and were told it was free (so they played)

We had a very nice lunch out on Saturday at The Brickerville House Family Restaurant http://brickervillehouserestaurant.com/ that was about $45 for 4 - so we still did quite well.

Oh and the same baked goods / veggie vendor that goes through Twin Grove came through Jonestown AOK - gotta love those whoopie pies!

The guy with the whoopie pies comes all the way out to Appalachian Campground in Shartlesville. We always look for him when we're in his area.

That is crazy! The facility is definitely not deserving of $55 a night

Stayed at Twin Grove recently with the grandchildren. Very nice campground, impeccably groomed and lots of activities for kids, not to mention a great pool. I see the Lickdale campground is a KOA now as noted above, and it would appear they have made quite a few improvements.

Twin Grove is definitely very nice. But requires booking ahead for holidays which is a struggle with my families schedule.

Not just for holidays. Their new online booking system shows you what sites are open and when. It's hard to find any sites open any weekend.
