Forums Upgrades - Site Suggestions - 11/29/12 04:23 PM

Hey everyone...

We have been running this forum software now for 2+ years and have made quite a few changes to them already for what people wanted to see differently.

We are about to upgrade features again and want to know what you would like to see implemented here.

We have chosen to stick with the UBB platform and just custom build options we want to have rather than change software and lose all of our old records and posts.

So now is your chance to tell us what you would like to see... Think big...

Please explain your idea, dont just post a simple statement like -

EASY LOGIN... That doesnt tell us what you are looking for, use something like...

EASY LOGIN - I would like to be able to have a facebook login that allows me to use the same login info as my facebook id so I dont have too many user names and passwords to remember.

We are gonna have prizes for people who participate here... Some Free Nights of Camping for next year, Gift Cards and RZ Masks (For the ATVers in the group) for a start.

GET DREAMING... But do it fast... We need ideas asap !

-A campground review section, where users can post reviews and rate campgrounds from 1 to 5 tents(stars)

-More sponsoring campgrounds and free nights from the eastern part of the state.

-A blog section where users can write blogs in their own little area.

-How about a "Like" button, so if you like a post, just click like.

I like the idea for a campground review section but I wonder if this would hurt the getting or maintaining "sponsoring campgrounds"?

More sponsoring campgrounds on the eastern or south eastern part of the state. Good Idea.

Hire or have trained volunteer CampingPA Representatives with territories or sections of the state to help promote the website, get sponsoring campgrounds and other businesses. They could be paid on commission or other form reimbursement on how many sponsors they sign up. The TV and RV would have CampingPA stickers and all other information needed to sign up sponsors and give to other campers.

Link to the weatherchannel.com or another weather report website.

Good Ideas...

FamilyCamper... We are also working with the regional reps thing right now in ATVingPA.com

I am in the process of setting them up there, then we can work on it here as well.

All great ideas everyone... Keep them coming...

Thinking more about this, I like the Articles and Info section on the main page. Maybe a section like that wit updates every now and then. Of course, I'd be willing to help with the updates.

Another thought. Although it would be a limited area, how about RV and Camping news. I just read a news bit i will post in a different thread. Something like that in it's on area, maybe.
Just throwing ideas out. Like to see more input from other members.

Yes I think I did. Running around all day and didn't really do much of anything.
Did you send an email to all users looking for ideas?

Better ability to log in and stay logged in.

More of a variety of participation from campgrounds - especially South East PA Campgrounds

I like the campground news . . . but perhaps a limit on the number of posts from one each day? Posts linking to a blog are a totally different thing from interactive posts IMHO

All great ideas everyone...

I just sent out the email Mikhen, so lets see how many more suggestions we can get.

Keep them coming, and please think big... Lets not have to do this again for a long time...

Less forums on the main page. I really enjoy the technical support forum, but it takes forever to scroll down to it. Maybe set up sub forums and group many of the forums into that section? Like all of the campgrounds could go into that grouping instead of being listed individually. Click the grouping and then you see the list.

Another example: Other Activities To Do While Camping could be another group, and when clicked, see the hunting, hiking, geocaching forums.

Everything is already grouped, but the lists make the home page way too long.

It is possible to collapse the section as it is now. To the right of the group heading, there should be a little arrow. Click it to collapse/expand the section.
