CAMP for a CAUSE

CAMP for a CAUSE - 06/11/13 08:39 PM

We don't camp there because we live three miles from the park. However, they are doing a Monster Hunt 5k (bike, hike, run, walk) the weekend of October 5. My son, will be the recipient of the funds raised. He was born with a small ear (microtia) and no ear canal (atresia). This will help pay for the surgery to reconstruct his ear and ear canal. Insurance is covering very little of the surgeries and none of the travel expenses. We have had 2 surgeries in San Francisco and 2 in San Antonio so far. The next one will be in July in Charlottesville, Va. It would be a great weekend to spend at their campground and come out and meet me, Ben and the rest of the family. (it's a monster scavanger hunt too). If anyone would like a brochure, just let me know at ktcoudriet@verizon.net

I heard of the Monster 5k before. By any chance is it through Angel 34?? We volunteered for them over the weekend. What a great cause.

Karla, maybe you could post as much information possible here on the site. Things like camping available, amenities, activities for the cause participants etc etc

Re: CAMP for a CAUSE - 09/27/13 02:56 PM

just saw this.. I need to get on here more (I keep saying that). Camping would be at Black Moshannon State Park. They don't have full hook ups but from what I understand, they do have nice bath houses and dump station. Fishing is fantastic, the fall colors are just now starting to explode, and of course the Monster Hunt. This is a 15k Bike, 5k run or 5k Hike. You will get clues to get you to the next stations. There will also be a kayak portion and an obstacle course before you can finish. T-shirts will also be provided to those that pre-register. The extras will be on sale for $10 that day (they are awesome looking). You can email Black Moshannon directly if you wish to camp or participate blackmoshannonee@pa.gov.
